It has been my great privilege to feature Ameera Johara- in so many critiques of her talent in works of art that are each timeless treasures of classic beauty. See her AMAZING portfolio of 70+ images that each inspired a critique by The Phantom Critic!
Every photo is an inspiration, every pose is meaningful, every expression is real and conveys a thought or an emotion, and every modeling presentation is incredibly and powerfully beautiful, from an artist who consistently produces great art that is of the highest caliber. Each of her works of art are timeless treasures of classic beauty. This is Ameera Johara.
Static images of people are misnamed because they are not really static when they effectively capture the image of a person who through the use of their emotions and actions conveys a thought or emotion. A great model and photographer knows how to create a static image that comes to life, that breathes and is believable, that communicates and makes the viewer feel or think.
A superb modeling image possesses a life of its own, using elements in the image to tell a story or convey a thought or emotion. The more skilled the staff that creates the image, then the more life the image possesses and the more powerful and impactful is the final image. The creation of great modeling photos requires people who are confident in their craft, sensitive to the concept, and artistic in their approach, treating every photo shoot and image as a unique work of art, unlike any other that has come before or will follow.
The world today is filled with people who wish to be models and there are more people today calling themselves “models” than ever before. The widespread availability of affordable cameras and lighting equipment has helped to create a much larger opportunity for people to take part in photo shoots, many of them paid by the model, just to have a chance to create images that they can use to prove their value as models.
However, in the pool of models, there are very few who can create truly superb modeling images, living images that effectively convey emotions that in viewing them you can feel, images that make you stop and think, images that are so startling that you cannot forget them, images that you will remember perhaps forever. While models sometimes create that type of image once or twice, there are very few who can create notable images of such a high caliber on a consistent basis, dozens or even hundreds of times. Models who can so effectively consistently convey emotions and stories are a very slim minority.
Ameera Johara is in that minority of models, a young model who at just 12 years old now has inspired over five dozen critiques by me. Ameera’s work is like a string of pearls, with each pearl a priceless treasure. What is so ironic about this is that I have always thought Ameera’s beauty in this way and it was only today that I looked up her name and found that it means “princess gemstone.”
The very first image I saw of Ameera was a couple of years ago that was taken when she was just 10 years old. The image was captured by an amateur photographer - her mother - an image that immediately captured my notice and made me curious about this incredibly talented and beautiful person. That image - which I called “Power and Beauty” – seemed to instantly inspire me to write a story about it, which was my first critique of Ameera’s vast modeling portfolio.
The more I searched through Ameera’s portfolios, the more impressed I became. It seemed that in every single photo shoot that I viewed, there was at least one image (and quite often multiple images) that would very quickly catch my notice and speak in a very significant way. Many models are only effective and beautiful at a certain angle or in a certain light or when expressing a narrow range of emotions. However, to my amazement, with this gifted young model, none of those elements seemed to matter; Ameera always seems to create a great impression in her modeling with images that convey emotions and almost always tell a story. In fact, most of the more than five dozen images of Ameera that I have critiqued are stories that I can see in the images.
People have asked me how I write stories about artistic images like those I have written about Ameera. To give you an idea of how I do that, look at the cover of a romance novel, either in conjunction with the title or by itself. Usually you can use these to get an idea about the book’s plot. That is what I do when I critique an image and create a story about it. But this is not something I try to “make happen,” this is something that flows out from the effectiveness of the art. When the expression and pose convey an emotion or a situation, that inspires my vision of the story and thus inspires my words. If there are props, it makes me curious why this person is doing this and I question why various elements are in the photo and what they are adding to the story. I ask why the person is posed a certain way, conveying a certain emotion, why they are dressed in a certain fashion, and I consider the environment. All of these elements and anything else that is unique about the image are what lead to my telling in words the image that these artists paint.
It has been my great privilege to feature Ameera Johara in so many critiques of her talent in works of art that are each timeless treasures of classic beauty. Every photo of Ameera is an inspiration, every pose is meaningful, every expression is real and conveys a thought or an emotion, and every modeling presentation is incredibly and powerfully beautiful, from an artist who consistently produces great art that is of the highest caliber.
Never have I been inspired by nearly every image of a model as I have with Ameera Johara. Every image of Ameera is an inspiration, professional, well-planned, thoughtful, carefully presented, and always an artistic treasure of great beauty.
